What is the objective of this course?
To offer the best practical methods and guidelines for developing and validating finite element models for nonlinear behaviors in solid mechanics and structural analysis. The goal is to give mechanical and structural engineers the keys to building accurate and reliable nonlinear FEA models — and to avoid the most frequent errors practitioners make.
What will I be able to do after completing it?
You'll be equipped to perform nonlinear FEA for your day-to-day solid mechanics and structural work, with genuine confidence in your results. You will understand nonlinear FEA in detail — including what the solver is doing in the background — and be a more versatile engineer with expanded career opportunities.
What are the prerequisites?
A solid general physics background is required. A basic knowledge of FEA is recommended — ideally equivalent to the Practical Basic FEA course or similar experience. A review of university-level solid mechanics, statics, and strength of materials is also recommended before starting.
